On February 22, the Shanxi Provincial Economic and Information Technology Commission announced that as one of the earliest provinces engaged in the research and development and industrialization of NdFeB permanent magnet materials, Shanxi Magnetic Materials Group will be established within the next two years to build four major Nd Iron-boron permanent magnet materials and components production base.
NdFeB permanent magnet materials and components are new-type functional materials, and are also emerging industries in our province with strong competitiveness and development potential. NdFeB permanent magnet materials and components are mainly used in computer hard disk drives (VCM), automotive motors, industrial motors, wind power, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and various audio-visual equipment, microwave communications, household appliances and other fields. With the continuous improvement of its performance, some new applications have appeared in recent years. It is precisely because of the extensive use of neodymium iron boron permanent magnet materials that the size of many electronic products can be further reduced and the performance can be greatly improved, thus adapting to the current development trend of light, thin, short and small electronic products.
It is understood that there are more than 60 magnetic material production enterprises in our province, and a number of enterprises with strong domestic advantages have emerged. It can produce more than 30 varieties, six series and brands of neodymium iron boron permanent magnet materials and component products, and its industrial development ranks at the national advanced level. By the beginning of 2009, the output of NdFeB in our province accounted for 30% of the total output of the country.
According to the "Shanxi Province NdFeB Permanent Magnet Material and Component Processing Industry Adjustment and Revitalization Implementation Plan", in this year and next two years, our province will build four major NdFeB permanent magnet materials and component production bases in Taiyuan, Yuncheng, Yangquan and Changzhi. Focus on the development rate of high-performance NdFeB magnets in the fields of motors, wind power, variable frequency motors, nuclear magnetic resonance, electric vehicles, etc.; expand the application fields of NdFeB permanent magnet materials and components, and focus on the development of wind turbines and permanent magnet motors , Special special high-voltage motors, coal mine special motors and other application products, increase the added value of products, and cultivate our province into a gathering place for permanent magnet material production and sales. At the same time, large enterprises are encouraged to jointly expand the international market and form a high-growth world-class magnetic material enterprise group with diversified, large-scale and international operations. By 2011, the output of NdFeB permanent magnet materials and components in our province reached 40,000 tons, and sales revenue reached 8 billion yuan.
